Cryptocurrencies are here for good

For the last few weeks, Bitcoin has been in the news of pretty much everybody. The exposure led to Coinbase being one of the top downloaded apps in the App Store. I was very impressed.

I discovered Bitcoin in 2011 at university. I remembered it did a bit of fuss as it was experiencing its first notable bull run. At the time, I got curious and learned a bit about the currency and Blockchain. I tried explaining to some friends and we discussed it. I have to admit I was not convinced by the sustainability of Bitcoin at the time. I wish I believed in it 6 years ago.

Bitcoin is an illustration of the Blockchain technology applied to the financial world. The goal of Bitcoin is to simply end the current banking world. Today, banks exists as we need a central counterparty. Blockchain is based on decentralization, therefore killing the need of a central point. We will talk about Blockchain in another article.

I would like to insist that this is my personal understanding of the technology and its financial application. I do not have that technological background to code nor am I am another IT expert. I am just a curious and fan of the technology. And a firm believer in it.

I was having dinner with my best friends last week, and we talked about Bitcoin for a bit. As much as they are educated and open minded, I was surprised by their lack of vision regarding the technology. I would put that on the fact they have not given some time to learn about it. However, I am very disturbed to hear from talented people that they do not believe in the tech. Blockchain is here to stay and it will fundamentally change the way the world operates. It will not happen in 5 years, but more in 20-30 years.

I would like to conclude that I do not believe Bitcoin is the answer to the future of money, but as the original currency and the biggest, I would not be surprised that it will stay for a very long time as the basis, maybe as gold was for dollar until Nixon killed the Bretton Woods system.

My advice for anybody would be to take some time to learn about the technology and to be curious. I am amazed that I missed such an ecosystem surrounding the Bitcoin/Blockchain. There is so much happening without noticing it that it will be too late when the transformation will be complete.

What do you think about the future or money and Blockchain technology? Have you bought some Bitcoin or another crypto currency?

GuillaumeCause is coming back

I’m 28 years old. The last time I blogged was maybe when I was 20. I blogged for a few years. I liked it very much. But it was also the university and you tend to spend more time partying that maybe thinking about the future.

I regret to have stopped blogging. However, it’s been a few months that my legs got itchy, telling me to come back in the game.

In 2018, blogging my seem for older people. Why don’t you Youtube bro?!?! Youtube is definitely in the back of my head, but I need to figure out a few things beforehand.

So… I am a Swiss (gentle)man, recently married, who likes to enjoy his life. Since I was little, I always was very curious and always had an “easy” understanding regarding technology (compared to the average person). I was the geek at school/uni.

I am passionate about ways to enjoy and improve myself. I like tech and finance, so cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology will also be a main topic of this blog. I enjoy food (organic and local), wine (natural). I am also a sport addict. My friends and family are an important aspect of my life. And travelling is always exciting. (so surprising right?) Oh, and I am always needing the latest gadget.

Welcome, thank you for reading me. Let’s all enjoy our life, discuss and share.
